Job Summary:

To educate medical students in Pharmacology across a two-year preclinical curriculum, to conduct research and scholarly activity, and to provide service to the institution.

Salary: $ 100,000 - $140,000

Required Qualifications:

Education: PharmD, preferably with residency training, or PhD in Pharmacology with post-doctoral training. Other PharmD with teaching and research experience will be considered.
Experience: Three to five years of teaching /research experience, preferably at the graduate level; broad-based background in pharmacology; publication(s) in peer-reviewed journal(s) preferred.

Job Summary:

Teach all assigned coursework to Anesthesiologist Assistant students and actively participate in curriculum development in collaboration with the Dean; develop, teach, monitor, and evaluates courses in the basic science, clinical, and simulation/skills development aspects of the graduate program; act as a resource for professional and community connections for personal and professional development; act as an academic adviser for the students and mentor for the comprehensive examinations; remain current in professional area of interest and participate in professional societies and activities, participate in all assigned, required, as well as other related professional services and activities in the MHSA Program.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Completion of an accredited program in Anesthesiologist Assistant or Nurse Anesthesia, master’s degree or higher, with relevant experience in teaching.

Licensure: Professional certification as an Anesthesiologist Assistant through the National Commission for the Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) or National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA); valid professional state license in good standing.

Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in anesthesiology or closely related field
Teaching experience at the graduate or undergraduate level
Organizational committee participation
A record of community experience
Ability to mentor students

Sideline medicine requires a unique blend of clinical expertise, rapid decision-making, and seamless teamwork. In a recent episode of "�Թϱ��: Beyond the White Coat," Brett Sprouse, DO, MBA, CAQSM, FAOASM, discussed the realities of working as a sideline physician and the vital role sports medicine plays in keeping athletes safe in high-pressure environments.

Dr. Sprouse, an assistant professor of Sports Medicine and OMM at �Թϱ��-Auburn, currently serves as the associate team physician for Auburn University and the team physician for Tuskegee University. He outlined what a typical game day looks like for a sideline physician—beginning hours before kickoff with pre-participation evaluations, taping, and stretching, followed by on-the-fly assessments and collaboration throughout the game.

“Football is very different,” Dr. Sprouse explained. “I’m usually getting here two and a half hours before kickoff. There’s more game day prep, more athletes, more coordination—it’s a whole operation.”

This level of preparation underscores the seriousness with which sports physicians approach their roles. As Dr. Sprouse put it, “You can’t just show up when the game starts. You have to be physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared to respond the moment something happens.”

Dr. Sprouse discussed the essential skills physicians must develop to be effective in an athletic setting. These include musculoskeletal assessment, emergency response, confident communication, and the ability to remain calm in high-stakes situations. He emphasized the importance of preparation and trust in one’s training when responding to critical injuries on the field.

“When a serious injury happens, you're almost working like an emergency physician,” he said. “You have to evaluate, triage, and decide—fast.”

Equally important is collaboration. Dr. Sprouse highlighted the teamwork involved in sideline care, noting that athletic trainers, EMTs, and coaching staff all play integral roles. From hand signals to sideline huddles, coordination is key.

“One of the first things I do is check in with the athletic trainer and the EMS team,” he shared. “We use common hand signals in case we can’t yell across the field. It’s all about preparation.”

Dr. Sprouse reflected on impactful moments from his career, including times when urgent care changed the trajectory of an athlete’s health. He also offered advice for medical students interested in sports medicine: Get involved early, seek shadowing opportunities, and build relationships with sports medicine professionals. “There’s no substitute for hands-on experience,” he added.

Job Summary:

The Admissions Coordinator will assist in all stages of the application process, from participating in off-campus and on-campus recruitment activities, to applicant interview days, and providing tours of �Թϱ�� and Auburn University campuses. They will give presentations; process admissions applicant files; update applicant statuses in admissions software; maintain organized and confidential applicant information, and interface with other departments within �Թϱ��. In addition, they will assist the Director of Admissions with all daily activities, special projects, and perform various administrative duties. This position is the front-line contact for admissions of �Թϱ��- Auburn and as such the candidate must be a superior communicator.

Salary Range: $40,000 - $45,000

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Licensure or certification: Valid driver’s license.
Experience:

Superior communication skills – needs to make presentations, communicate face- to-face, via telephone, and in written forms with prospective students, current students, staff, faculty, and other constituencies in a professional and respectful manner
Highly organized and detail orientated
Ability to interact with and develop strong relationships with a variety of individuals, groups, and institutions
Ability to maintain a positive and fresh approach and attitude
Commitment to confidentiality
Willingness to attend special events as needed (on and off campus) for recruitment of new students or obtain continuing education
Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, basic design software, and the ability to learn new computer programs as needed
